Marguerite Humeau created the cover artwork for Lafawndah’s 2020 album The Fifth Season, a record inspired by N. K. Jemisin’s Broken Earth trilogy. The image features Humeau’s 2018 Portland-limestone sculpture Venus of Frasassi, A 10-year-old female human has ingested a rabbit’s brain, part of her speculative exploration of prehistoric Venus figures, ritual and altered states of consciousness.
